Peace News Summer Camp

Helping build a radical movement for the future by creating a living community today.

Building a community

When we started thinking about having a Peace News Summer Camp we began thinking of all the wonderful and inspiring experiences we have had at camps and gatherings.

We remembered the Atlantic Life Community that we went to in the US, where we met Dan and Phil Berrigan; we talked about the magical experiences we had at the Land is Ours occupations at Pure Genius in Wandsworth and St George’s Hill, (our tiny child wore his first pair of shoes at the site in Wandsworth); Emily recalled the extraordinary and ordinary power of Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp.

We decided that one of the most important aspects of camps is the community building that comes from the daily working together to make a camp, and we thought that this should be an important part of making a Peace News peace camp – something that can help build our community of peacemakers.

Since deciding with the other members of staff that we could put on a sizeable camp of possibly 100 peace activists and perhaps 60 workshops over a long weekend, we have had offers of help from far and wide, and many exciting possibilities have come up.

Please join us in July for a memorable occasion.
