PUBLIC TRANSPORT via SHREWSBURY TRAIN STATION

Crabapple is in Berrington Hall,  ½ mile from the Berrington village, and 1 mile from the larger village of Cross Houses.
The nearest train station is Shrewsbury. You can then get the bus to Cross Houses. If coming from a long distance it can sometimes be cheaper to get a ticket to a large station such as Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Manchester or Crewe and then a separate ticket on to Shrewsbury.

If coming from London, check out the Off Peak Return and Super Off Peak Return fares at

https://tickets.londonmidland.com/search

(The London Midland website has been revamped and is now harder to navigate – try typing “nmp” or “northampton” in the “travel via…” box to show up the cheaper fares).

When you arrive at Shrewsbury train station there are two main options.

1) Bus

Ask someone to point you to the bus station.
It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the train station.
The bus service that runs from town to within a mile of Crabapple is the 436 towards Bridgnorth.
It runs every hour from 7.35am to 4.35pm, and then at 5.45pm and 6.45pm.
There is no bus service on Sundays.

The journey to Cross Houses is usually 15 mins but there is a diversion in operation so it may take longer
You will need to press the stop button when you see the sign for Cross Houses.

Berrington Hall is about 1 mile from the bus stop.
From the bus stop at Cross Houses, walk back half a minute towards Shrewsbury past the petrol station (on your right) and take the first left turn, signed “Berrington”.

After about ½ mile, the road forks at the edge of the village.
Take the right turn, which is signposted “Betton Abbots” and we’re about ¼ mile up the road on the right.

2) Taxi

Please phone Comet Cars – before setting off – to book a taxi on 01743 344 444, and ask to go to Berrington Hall in Crosshouses, SY5 6HA.

You could alternatively use any of the following local taxi firms instead:

Vincents – 01743 367777
GoCarz – 01743 441144

If you need a taxi from the train station to the site, and are unable to afford the cost, PNSC will cover some or all of the cost (but only if you pre-book the taxi through Comet Cars).

When you arrive, please ask the Welcome Tent team to pay for your fare.
